DAC and Tiger's Game

Member Appreciation Event / 40th Anniversary SOCAP National Celebration at the Detroit Athletic Club followed by a picnic and Tigers Game!

What a picture perfect day!

The GL Chapter kicked off a business meeting at the exceptional Detroit Athletic Club where approx. 50 members and guests gathered.   In conjunction with an information session to educate attendees on GL Chapter functions, activities, and how to get involved, our guest celebrity speaker was Bill Proctor, retired Channel 7 Action News reporter.   Bill shared highlights of his 33 year career noting the impact of communication with your audience and reinforcing the significance of service!  You never know who may be on the other end of the phone line (or internet as it may be)!
After the DAC meeting the Chapter, along with 20 members & guests of the West Point Society of Michigan, enjoyed a picnic lunch at Comerica park followed by the Tigers v. Royals game.  In total there were 90 combined participants at Comerica Park!!!  The only thing that could have been better would have been a Tiger WIN!

The weather was perfect !   A very fun and successful day/turn out!
Special thanks to Chip Rhode from ACS and Susan Zoma from Little Caesars for helping organize the event!

20th Annual Golf Outing and Business Meeting

20th Annual Golf Outing & Business Meeting at Tanglewood Golf Club

This event was the Great Lake Chapter's 20th annual outing at Tanglewood!  The day started with what we call our "early birdie" business meeting.

This year the dynamic duo of Bob McDonald, VP Sales & Service from Gerber Life Insurance teamed up with Michael Hutchison, VP Professional Services with Nexidia to present a speech analytics implementation case study.  Bob shared his success story regarding value adds, the gold mine of data analytics available, and the calculated ROI realized by this partnership backed by Michael's detailed demo and overview of his product.

An 18 hole scramble followed the business meeting complete with a charity hole sponsored by the course pro, Brad Embry, who is also the GLC's 2012 Esther Shapiro Award Winner for customer service.  Prizes for the day included longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, and a putting contest for both men and women.

Chip always promises the day will be "sunny and warm".   He must have consulted well with Mother Nature as we averted the predicted showers that day!  Way to go Chip!    What a super day - here are some shots (pun intended) along the course!!!

2013 Kick Off Meeting

2013 Annual Kick Off Meeting at the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC)

2013 is off to a fantastic start with another record attendance setting year at this signature event!  Linnea Johnson, the  SOCAP International Chair, stole the show with an update from SOCAP National followed by an engaging overview of Unilever's consumer care program and social media strategies.  The GLC also hosted 4 Henry Ford Community College student guests pursuing certificates in Customer Care as part of a newly created chapter mentor program.

A tradition at this event is presentation of the annual Esther Shapiro Award.  This year's recipient was Brad Stedry, PGA professional, at Tanglewood Golf Club.

The event concluded at the DAC followed by a quick "people mover" ride to Cobo Hall to explore the Detroit Auto Show, another classic event for the city of Detroit!
